A/B, Lodose, for Oscar Paborn, Solvesborg, SWE, who employed her as a freighter in the Baltic Sea and Swedish coastwise traffic; 1951 she was lengthened 7,8m in Bremerhaven and new measurements altered to 44m/261gt adding bowsprit totalize 52m; 1961 sailing rig moved off and a 360hp June Munktell engine was installed; 1967 Rolf Pettersson, same traffic; 1979 ALVA, Claes & Hakan Stenestad; 1983 she reappeared as a sailing schooner; 1986 a 400 hp Caterpillar 6 cyl, hundestedt adjustable pitch propeller was installed; 1989 the Stenestad brothers decided changing her vessel business and a major rebuilding took place; 1990/91 a total conversion was carried on at the Pernica Wharf, Stettin. She was rebuilt for passenger purposes, so the cargo hold was refurnished into 15 cabins, WC/showers, library and a sauna. On deck, a new housing was built, containing the hall, WC, conference rooms, dining room, bar and a big spacious restaurant for 54 guests with galley. Additionally, in the meantime, a future re-rigging into an interesting four mast schooner was prepared; 1994 some group charters trips, particularly in the Stockholm archipelago. Important group enterprises like Volvo, Microsoft and the Pharmacia were some of her clients, which have appreciated on board for recreation and business meetings.Since 1967 Stockholm is the ALVA’s homeport, which is owned by Rederi A/B Alva, who have its office at that town, and today group charters is her main business and sails with students all over Europe exploring various regions.The ALVA was berthed at Leixões port – Dock no. 1 as from 07 up to 16/05/2009 coming from Ponta Delgada and proceeds to Santander with students. Additional details:Class: Lloyd´s Register; Draft: 3 meters (10 feet); Cruising speed: 7,5 knots / 1.600 rpm on 45 litres/hour; Range: 1.700 NM; Bunkers: Diesel – 13.000 litres; Fresh water – 2 x 2.500 litres, 1 x de-salination system MT Freshwater 5500 that produces 5.000 litres a day; Classification: Certificates for 80passengers in archipelago trade, 42 passengers in the Swedish coastal trade; Equipment: Furuno 711 radar, Autopilot Decca 450, Garmin GPS-152 navigator, Furuno VHF GMDSS FM-8500, VHF Sailor RT 144 C, Boatnav Navtex Receiver NCR-330, 3 x Sailor JP 3110 portable VHF (gmdss), 1 x Icom ICA JE flight radio; Totalsail surface 590 square meters.Saudações marítimo-entusiásticas.Rui Amaro (Blogue Navios à Vista)
